b-17

The B-17 was the American bomber of World War II. This poster is one of a series of posters that I designed for the Boeing Museum of Flight. Here I show the planes heading for home after the target has been hit. It was by no means certain that they would make it back to base. The planes would try to climb as high as possible to avoid enemy fighters and anti-aircraft fire in order to increase the odds of their survival.
