Early in the morning a group of men from the Lewis and Clark party are down on the river landing preparing a dug out canoe to explore upriver from the mouth of the Columbia River. They look up and are surprised to see a canoe with native people paddling toward them. Lewis spots the Indian people and is walking down the path to great them. This is the first poster in a series I am working on for the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. The difficulty with this scene was how to show accurately the river, the landing, the fort, and all the individual people and make it look believable.
