Here is another illustration with a Union bugle boy who not only was necessary for telling the time and duties in camp but also was used to help guide the troops in battle. The bugle is normally associated with the cavalry and artillery. Again, there were age restrictions in the Union Army but many young boys would lie about their age so they could go off to war. This piece is another example of the work I did for the Gettysburg Museum.
